Why Habitech

Habitech is a superior innovative building system of high-quality manufactured building components that are delivered to site in a flat-pack format. These then fit together enabling lock-up (weathertight and secure) within a matter of weeks, not months providing a full panel solution for your home.

The system draws on 30 years of proven Structural Integrated Panel (SIPs) technology, which have been refined for New Zealand and Australian conditions.

Cheaper To Run - Energy Efficient

The thermal performance of a Habitech home will reduce heating and cooling energy by 60-70% compared to a code minimum home, with little additional active heating or cooling needed. Constant stable indoor temperatures provides greater comfort for you and your family.

This is achieved utilising: Super insulated walls and ceilings/roofs, creating thermally stable spaces, a solar passive design, an insulated concrete slab and integrated heating/cooling/ventilation systems.

More Environmentally Sustainable, Healthier

The SIPS panels used in Habitech homes built by LiteGreen traps 8.3kg of carbon from the atmosphere per kg of timber used - this is compared to the 3.2kg CO2e emitted for each kg of steel used in a building ensuring maximum energy efficiency.

Effective cross-ventilation paths and integrated heat recovery systems are common elements of our homes. These systems allow moist and stale air to be exhausted from our homes, with over 90% of the heat or cool being transferred to incoming fresh air creating a healthier environment.


Stronger, Better Quality, Earthquake Resilient Homes

In comparison to traditional stud framing and New Zealand's "code minimum" standards, Habitech's innovative composite timber/Magnesium Oxide board wall panels have been independently certified to have over:

800% of the bearing capacity - ability to carry loads
580% of the bending strength - bracing against wind loads
200% of the bending stiffness - minimising movement for future earthquake events

Custom Designed and Faster to Build

Each home is custom designed by our leading New Zealand architects. Efficient designs allow the lock-up of our homes (weather sealed and secure) in a matter of weeks, typically reducing the time taken to build a house by 2-3 months. This provides significant benefits, limiting the disturbance and relocation costs that the building process inevitably creates in our clients' lives.
